Repongo este excelso disco del sello DISCOS ESPLENDOR GEOMÉTRICO que en 1985 dejó boquiabiertos a los aficionados al sonido industrial. Esta recopilación conocida por el nombre "BARCELONA SAMPLER LP" o por "4 GRUPOS DE BARCELONA", recoge las obras de cuatro proyectos sonoros muy importantes de la edad de oro de la música electrónica creativa: 32 GUÁJAR'S FÁRAGÜIT, AVANT-DERNIÈRES PENSÉES, CAMINO AL DESVAN y MELODINAMIKA SENSOR. Además, todos ellos estaban en la plenitud de su creatividad, por lo que el resultado es poco menos que orgásmico. 

Fui informado de la aparición de este discazo gracias al programa LOS SILENCIOS DE LA RADIO de RÀDIO P.I.C.A., conducido por JAVIER HERNANDO, en el mismo año 1985, pocos días después de su aparición en el mercado y me faltó tiempo para acudir a la célebre y desaparecida tienda de discos de mi barrio de Gràcia de Barcelona, "PAN & MÚSICA". Durante años fue mi disco de cabecera y llegué a desgastar tanto el vinilo como la carpeta de tanto ponerlo en el giradiscos. Hace unos años encontré otro ejemplar en Ebay en bastante mejor estado que el mío y lo compré para tenerlo en buenas condiciones, aunque sigo conservando el original como oro en paño.

Esta versión está ripeada directamente del LP de Discos Esplendor Geométrico. Existe otra versión en cassette del sello Línea Alternativa, pero me consta que lleva los mismos temas.

Hace pocos días, una amiga de Soulseek me pasó este ripeo en FLAC de su ejemplar para que lo re-subiera en éste, vuestro blog, (mil gracias EVA), así que aquí os lo dejo para que sigáis gozando con esta obra maestra. Poneos el babero.

Se trata de un concierto llevado a cabo el 20 de enero de 1985 y editado en formato cassette por los mismos E.N. Creo que hará las delicias de much@s de l@s que habitáis aquí, especialmente mi amigo CARLOS DAL VERME, un einsturzendenista-neubautenero de muchos kilates al que quiero un montón.

Thelema ‎– Rosa + Croce (Not On Label, Cassette, 1985) (MP3)

The origins of a music group are always wrapped up by legends or strange stories.
This is not the case for Thelema.
In fact, the group formed in the most normal fashion in the winter of 1984 in Italy when Massimo Mantovani former BLOUSONS NOIRS, bass player Giorgio Parmigiani ex THROBS OF PLEASURE and Gregorio Bardini ex T.A.C. Gave life to the band inspired by Aleister Crowley's ideas, philosophy and esoteric work, calling it Thelema.
The first urgency was to find a drummer and find him in Marco Bucciarelli. With this first line-up composing the first tracks. Surely influenced by the dark-wave and post-punk English of the time, they still managed to give their own soundtrack to their songs, where an important tribal mix between bass and battery created the rhythmic rug for electric guitar harmonies and keyboards , All overwhelmed by vocal melodies that are not always sung, but also screamed. The live debut dates back to November 1984 in Ostiglia (Mantova) in which they played their full repertoire of then. They made a first demo-tape called The Golem and the fall of the dying gods containing 5 tracks and in the b side a bout of that concert. In December of the same year they recorded the first single Rosa Alchemica that came out in the early months of 1985 along with the Fanzine Signal by Sandro Bergamo for Edizioni Lumiere. Reviews on specialized magazines and fanzines were unanimously positive, and Thelema also started a steady live business.
Again in 1985 Massimo and Gregorio incised a ribbon of ritual music called Rosa † Cross, whose first 93 copies were numbered in gold. The first public consents, especially locally, took them to the studio to record other new songs.

Mi amada Mors Mea ha vuelto a compartir joyas en su canal de Youtube, poniéndome sobre la pista de un proyecto británico muy interesante. Se trata de SON OF SAM, cuyos miembros RAZOR ROBBIE, C.M. BISHOP, ROB STOKES AND SAM HARRIS, llevaban a cabo un pop electrónico underground (ahora se llamaría "minimal wave") accesible pero no por ello facilón. Contundencia rítmica cercana al tecno industrial e incluso al EBM en ocasiones. Sea como fuere, la calidad rezuma a raudales, como todo lo que producía el sello FINAL IMAGE. No os lo perdáis.

Ramleh: Awake! (Broken Flag, BF40, 6xcassette compilation boxset, 1985, MP3)

Ramleh is a seminal British noise project founded in 1982 by its only constant member Gary Mundy. Mundy was a pioneer in the power electronics genre and an important figure in the development of noise music. He created the legendary cult label Broken Flag Records as a means of spreading the bizarre atonal audial perversities of a handful of whackos from around the world, including the likes of Controlled Bleeding, Consumer Electronics, Con-Dom, Maurizio Bianchi and Matthew Bower projects Skullflower and Total. Ramleh also worked primarily through Broken Flag at this time, releasing almost exclusively on cassette format for their initial run of 1982-84. Based on recordings of live improvisational performances, early Ramleh was extremely influential in the development of power electronics and harsh noise, setting the standards for many groups and artists to come. While it's obvious that there was little to no musicianship or songcraft involved in the making of this material, its abrasiveness and fierce DIY ethic created a strange and fascinating aesthetic. The "Awake" 6 tape set (originally released in 1985 but recently reissued as part of a Broken Flag retrospective) covers virtually everything recorded in Ramleh's initial power electronics phase. It's quite a lot of material to sift through, but has an interesting allure and atmosphere and for some fanatics is worth listening to in its entirety.

As with the majority of 80s power electronics (most of which had some association with Broken Flag), the recording here is incredibly dull and buried in tape hiss. Also, most of the material was recorded in live performances, so nothing sounds in the least bit polished. The music is made up of little more than distortion, feedback and vocals running through effects. These sounds may be used to create a low rumbling pulse, spasms of piercing noise, waves of screeching feedback, and everything in between. The vocals are never without effects, and are usually barbaric (albeit muffled) yells. The vocals may be used in pulsating repetitive sections or chaotic spastic sections, but usually don't appear in the more ambient rumblings. Pulses of sound sometimes create a rhythm-like backbone, which along with the dull analog production makes the link between early Ramleh and early industrial (such as the live recordings of the mighty Throbbing Gristle) pretty clear. In fact, it wouldn't be a great leap to say early Ramleh and many of their contemporaries simply were industrial music. However, later on the term power electronics came into common usage, and the harsher groups got the larger the distinction from industrial music became, especially considering the modern connotations of the genre (*cough* goth wimps and fags like Trent Reznor *cough*).

"Awake!" covers hours of material across 6 tapes, and is more like a historical record than a release to be taken in all at once (much like Throbbing Gristle's excellent TG24 live collection). However, eventually scaling all its material may be rewarding for the noise freak or curious party (myself fitting in more with the latter). Broken Flag Records put out a good deal of interesting material, but it is perhaps their dark, grimy, dingy DIY aesthetic and cult status more than the music associated with them that draws in the weirdos like flies. 80s power electronics represented a polar extreme; while industrial was created essentially to strip down aggressive music to purely mechanical components, bands like Ramleh sought to degenerate that notion to the level of non-music. It is indeed a fascinating idea, and the harshness and dull, atonal textures found here may tickle the fancy of a few strange folks. It's highly unlikely that many will enjoy this material or anything out of the Broken Flag catalogue, but there are those fanatics who will investigate it with a keen ear and maybe find something they dig.

As for Ramleh's career after 1984, Mundy would embark on a turbulent journey and change his style pretty drastically with the help of a few guest musicians such as Phillip Best (of Consumer Electronics and Whitehouse) and the high and mighty drummer Stuart Dennison (of Skullflower fame). In fact, in Ramleh's second incarnation in 1987, they would play what would become the precursor to Skullfower's dull, hazy repetitive stoner rock/noise-ish sound (*see my review of Skullflower - Birthdeath for more info on that). And by the '90-'98 era there was little distinction between Ramleh and Skullflower. So stay tuned for more on Ramleh's legacy. Next stop, the transition from noise to guitar-based music.

Una compilación muy curiosa esta, lanzada por De Fabriek en algún viaje a Rusia en 1985. Realmente no indexado, por lo que es difícil decir quién hace lo que aquí. En la portada se mencionan los siguientes nombres: Gregori, Fagin, Suiatoslav-Lieontievich-Kruticov, Anatol-Zeliocowskij, Obeng & Sally Balfour, Toni, Richard, Andries. Los dos últimos, por supuesto, el hardcore de De Fabriek. Bastante basado en el sintetizador y experimental. Disfrutad!

Francisco Felipe publica su primer trabajo en 1981 bajo el título de "La otra cara de un jardín", un cassette autoproducido que no he podido encontrar. Si alguien lo tiene, que levante el dedo!! ;D
Tras su primer single en Tic-Tac (1982), colabora con un tema en el recopilatorio "Anthems 2" del sello italiano Trax (1983).
En esta edición de EGK, se recopilan extractos de su primera cassette, una variación de "Últimos momentos de la jornada" (El tema de Anthems...) y extractos de "Noche gruesa", que recogió un fragmento la k7 "Codex". 
La portada es de Françoise Duvivier una espléndida escritora y pintora francesa con un trabajo inédito a medias con Comando Bruno.

Por mi parte decir que un seguidor anónimo del que sólo conozco su e-mail me ha hecho llegar esta cassette ripeada en FLAC, mandado a través de We Transfer con el siguiente mensaje adjunto: "CONSIDERALO EL REGALO DE UN AMIGO, NO LE DES MAS VUELTAS".

Cualquier día me citan en un párking, a oscuras, y un hombre que fuma me entrega cintas o ripeos, escaneos o vete a saber... Joder, me siento Robert Redford en "Todos los Hombres del Presidente"... :D

Zos Kia (also credited as Zoskia) was a British musical group initially formed by John "Zos Kia" Gosling along with John Balance.This trio, along with Peter Christopherson on sound, and sometimes other guests, recorded and performed several concerts in 1982 and 1983 under the names Zos Kia and Coil, and some of this material is available on the Coil/Zos Kia release Transparent.

In 1983, Balance and Christopherson left to concentrate on Coil full-time. All material released under the Zos Kia name alone was primarily the work of John Gosling. After retiring the Zos Kia name, Gosling went on to record with Sugardog and Psychic TV and to work solo as Sugar J and Mekon.

The name "Zos Kia" is derived from the Zos Kia Cultus, a system of magic devised by British artist Austin Osman Spare.
